What are the 3 things that every training program must have in order to see results??
According to NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association) the 3 General training principles are:
Specificity
Overload
Progression
Specificity simply means training someone a specific way to produce a specific change or result. Team Scarito trains using the Functional Training method or using your own body weight as resistance. I believe that each individual needs to be able to handle their own weight before adding more on. This is why we have injuries. Master your range of motion and exercise technique first.
Overload is putting the body under stress and intensity that the client in not used to training with. This is a big one for everybody to understand. Who do you think will see results faster, Person A who runs all the time and uses the same weight during their strength training days or Person B who changes up their routine and constantly increases the load they lift? Your muscles need to placed under different stresses all the time. Doug, could not feel his lats after the first couples workouts, his body was not used to the intensity.
Progression is basically the process of continually making the workouts different and harder each time, at a safe pace!!! Having someone do 50 deadlifts with a weight they are not used too is just stupid.
I wanted to write this blog post for my Team to help them understand a little more of how I train and why I do the crazy shit that I do. For the future, keep these principles in mind and you will see results.
TEAM SCARITO!!!!

Doug
Ashley and I went back to the gym for a double today. Feeling good! I overheard one of the trainers (Debbie) tell someone that one of her people gained weight last week. haha. Chris Dyer was posting all the stats on the charts when we left the gym tonight. She is just doing total body percentage lost so that should be good news for us.
ReplyDeleteJust did Adam's Circiut Class this morning. He was trying to talk to me the whole time to distract me from working out. THAT RAT!
ReplyDelete2 hours of Cardio yesterday....1 hr on treadmill and 1 hr on Eliptical. Watched Real Housewives of NJ the whole time....now THEY HAVE PROBLEMS!!
ReplyDeleteI knew when you went in to take Adam's class that he was going to try to mess with you... he's just nervous because someone on his team cheated over the weekend (don't know if she told him that though). Ashley and I took a spin class today. Getting ready to take Evan to swim lessons at the gym and then head upstairs for our workout. I really feel like I live at the gym and that's not a bad thing!
ReplyDeleteTonight was monumental for me. I am the biggest fan of peanut butter. It is my weakness. I can't really describe how much I love it but I have finished off a jar in a sitting many times in the past (I am not proud of this but I need you to understand my love affair with peanut butter). With that said, after dinner tonight I committed to not eating anything else for the rest of the night. After my husband and I put our kids to bed we sat downstairs to watch t.v. and he brought in a plate of apples smothered in peanut butter. It was extremely hard to watch (he offered to go into the kitchen but I was up for the challenge) and I watched (and smelled) the tasty peanut butter as it went and although it was tempting, I DID NOT cave and I am very proud of myself. Just wanted to share that!
ReplyDeleteOn another note, I got a babysitter for Monday so I am pool bound at Doug's at 10:30!!!
Phil - you have two places to post blogs ... maybe you want one link . Looking forward to swim class on Monday - the weather looks great
ReplyDeleteSo proud of you Dina! That is HUGE for you. The way you feel about Peanut Buuter is the way I feel about candy/chocolate. I cannot imagine a life without it. That is most of the reason I am in the Biggest Loser.
ReplyDeleteI ate peanut butter on an apple at dinner tonight. gasp!!!
ReplyDeleteDina, It is hard to resist I know. Great job and tell your husband to stop the temptation, for the love of god!!!
ReplyDeleteAs for Adam's class, Team Scarito fears nobody. We are warriors and will not be tempted by anyone or anything. They all fear us!!!
